Raising The Bar - Coaches
COACHES:
- Be a positive role model; set the example for other teams playing in our events.
- Avoid receiving technical fouls; show kids how to handle adversity with class.
- Promote sportsmanship by holding players and parents accountable for behavior.
- Provide regular feedback to players on strengths and areas of improvement.
- Arrive to practices 15 minutes early and games 30 minutes early (1 hour early for HS teams).
- Communicate any roster changes (adding/dropping players) with administration.
- Utilize opportunities to equalize playing time over the course of the season.
- Enforce Under Armour only uniform protocol for all of your assistant coaches and team members.
- Facilitate collection of paperwork prior to participation and collection of fees according to schedule.
- Prioritize the development of players above winning at all costs.
PARENTS
- Be a positive role model; set the example for other fans attending our events.
- Adhere to the RRBB Code of Conduct by not saying anything negative to or about officials.
- Demonstrate self control and hold players accountable for their behavior and actions.
- Ensure players have effective time management skills to ensure homework and academics stay #1.
- Coordinate logistics so players are at practice 5-10 minutes early and at games 30-60 minutes early.
- Communicate with your coach directly about scheduling conflicts and special circumstances.
- Avoid approaching your coach ever about playing time; encourage players to ask their coach what they can do to improve.
- PLEASE WAIT 24 HOURS BEFORE CONTACTING A COACH ABOUT ISSUES, YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS.
- Show your team spirit and appreciation for our sponsor.
- Submit paperwork as requested and player fee donations in a timely manner.
- Support your player by telling them how much you enjoy watching them play.
- Avoid coaching your child from the sidelines, or compare them to other players. Be their biggest fan.
PLAYERS
- Be a positive role model; set the example for other players playing in our events.
- Do not react to officiating negatively by saying anything smart or exhibiting bad body language.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Help players up, hold yourself accountable, maintain class.
- Don’t text, tweet, or post any unflattering images or sentiments. Have program loyalty to your team and sponsors..
- Be the best student-athlete you can be. Manage your time so homework is done before practice.
- Earn playing time by being coachable, a leader, unselfish, and a good teammate.
- Always be in proper uniform. Do not wear anything to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.
- Reallocate time spent with technology towards studies and improving your basketball skills.
- Make good decisions on and off the court. Be more concerned with your character than reputation.
- We are giving 100% towards your development and need 100% in return. No participation on other non-school teams.
